Message: Hey, I'm the founder & leader of the Celebration Brass Band of VT, based out of Brattleboro VT since 2009. Since the beginning of the Trump administration, Dan DeWalt, Ron Kelley and I have been the driving forces behind the People's Resistance Band in Bratt. Dan is without a doubt the principal organizing force in this, but I would say the three of us are the structural core of the band. I am a New Orleans native, and bring a strong New Orleans focus to the music. But because New Orleans brass band music isn't overtly political (though culturally, it's extremely potent), I'm deeply involved in merging N.O. brass band motifs with political content, in this regional environment. Aside from playing and composing, as a percussionist, I'm also mainly focused on developing call & response political chants that can be sung with nothing but percussion, or alternately, melded to instrumental riffs that closely match the sung chants. So, I am looking for musicians, not just in Brattleboro, but regionally, who might be interested in rehearsing together, either in Brattlboro, or wherever else there might be interest… e.g., Keene, Greenfield, Turners Falls, preferably. My wife and I live in Langdon NH, about 30 minutes north of Keene, 40 min north of Bratt. In addition to Brattleboro, we're also politically invested in the resistance movements in Bellows Falls VT and Walpole NH.
